Who is an authorized, certified Immigration Consultant?

Please, be advised that as of April 2004 Canada has implemented new regulations that clearly define who may act as officially authorized immigration representative.

quote-
Amendments to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations, April 14, 2004
Representation for a fee, Section 13.1
'(...) No person who is not an authorized representative may, for a fee, represent, advise or consult with a person who is the subject of a proceeding or application before the Minister, an officer or the Board.'
-unquote

An immigration consultant who offers service against a fee has to be a member in good standing of the CSIC (Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants) which means that the consultant has to pass all exams and requirements set by the Society to become a certified and officially authorized immigration consultant.

Claudia Schulz (Ph.D.), the director of TransAtlantic Business Services Inc. is a certified, full member of the CSIC and therefore fully authorized to conduct business on your behalf with Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC), the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

Our recommendation:
Due to the fact that
a) the Canadian Government does not accept applications from unauthorized consultants and
b) there are still several unauthorized consultants on the market offering you their services you may wish to doublecheck on the CSIC website (www.csic-scci.ca) prior to hiring your consultant whether he /she is a CSIC member.
